So BigK, in the form of JGW, has asked if I can attend the APTA 2005 Expo in Dallas on their behalf. All expenses paid. Cool, huh? Downside: it's scheduled for September 26-28, the first three days of skrool. Much as I wouldn't mind three days away from Algebra and German Language studies, I can't miss the first days of class.
So tomorrow I am off to PCC to check in with my advisor, and see if there is anything that can be done or not. I suspect not, but it's worth a shot to find out if, indeed, I could do make-up work or some other method of alternate studies to get around this and still get to go to Dallas. Honestly, Dallas may end up being a complete bore, but a the same time, it's the first time I've been asked by my editor to go somewhere, expenses paid, and represent the publication officially. That's something I'd like not to disappoint on.
I'm also going to check in on my financial aid, and see just what's up with that. I'd rather avoid signing myself into major debt, but on the other hand... I can't really afford to do this any other way, unless I scrimp for a car -- which I am already doing -- and dive into P&W and save my money. Not an unworkable plan, but somewhat less easy to balance with working for BigK.
1 Comments:
1.) Depending on what my German teacher says when she calls me... hopefully tonight... I may be going to Dallas after all.
2.) Financial Aid has not determined I will only get loans... that is still in the future. I have to be patient and await my awards letter, which should be coming "soon".
